I'm a pretty rubbish blogger, I have ideas about what I want to talk about, then I never get around to putting it into action. I've set myself a target of blogging once a month. That should be achievable and I've put a reminder in my calendar at the end of the month to do one. Let's see how that goes.
Another quick reminder is that the NHS is still open for other conditions and screening, not just Covid-19. I got a letter through the post for my smear test. Women are supposed to have them every 3 years in the UK. It would have been easy to put it off, but I decided I should go as screenings have been down considerably since lockdown started. It's understandable to be anxious and if you are shielding or vulnerable then it is worth checking with your GP practice if it is the right thing to do. If you do need to go to your GPs or a hospital and you are worried look for all the safety precautions that are in place. My GP practice was well managed with limited numbers in, floor markings to maintain distance between people, fewer chairs in the waiting area that were spaced out and more hand gel than you could shake a stick at.
Smear tests are not really fun, no woman wants to hear "knees apart, keep your bottom down.... and relax" but it could save your life and at the very least it's a good excuse to wear a dress.
